These are some of the places I go on the web for travel,
photography or other interesting place. Most of these are commercial
sites, I include them not because I get any money back but because I
have found them to be good people to deal with. I include a note
about why I like them and you can decide if you want to give them a
try.
WindSculpture.com.
Website for my brother who does beautiful outdoor sculptures.
There are no pictures but contact information.
ShellyCorbett.com.
Shelly is my sister in law. She does underwater photography, very
unique and wonderful.
LonelyPlanet.com I
own 10 or 12 of the Lonely Planet travel guides and I find that I am
frustrated by the information sometimes. They are great for ideas
and for thinking about what to see but not reliable when it comes to
advice on details. I use the site a lot for getting ideas, the
best part is the Thorn Tree message board.
www.bhphotovideo.com.
These guys can be frustrating to deal with on the phone but their web
site is great, they have constantly had the lowest prices when I shop
around and everything has always been delivered on time.
Amazon.com. All those Lonely
Planet book were purchased here, along with a bunch of other books.
I like these guys and think they are great at what they do.
www.travelocity.com.
I have tried all of the on line booking sites and I think that Travelocity
has the best selection. As an example I checked here and three
other sites for a ticket from Amsterdam to Delhi. The lowest price
here was over $400 less than any other site. Plus they have a
great selection, I have booked flights in every continent here.
www.foreign-currency.com.
I have never used their service for buying foreign currency ahead of
travel but I like the information on current exchange rates.
www.globecorner.com.
I use this place for finding maps, for some reason they always seem
to have just the foreign map I need.
www.thedarkroom.com.
These guys developed almost every photo on this site and they did most
of the prints I have also. They do an excellent job of printing
both color and b&w.
www.dictionary.com. A
must for all bad spellers, including me.
www.timeanddate.com.
Great for figuring out what time it is anywhere, check out the meeting
planner if you have to arrange calls over multiple time zones.
ByCorene.com. This is the
person who designed this site, need I say more.
